The Titap 595 Inc. adopted 81 seeds in La Mesa Eco Park, Quezon City “Bantay Kalisan Project” last November 23, 2012.

The pledge was made at a seeds planting ceremony in Bahay Punlaan at La Mesa Eco Park Quezon City attended by Alyssa Rosette Eco Park facilitator, Titap 595 Inc. President Kristine S. Co, Anita Austria and Jemabel Falejo Titpa 595 Inc., secretariat.

La Mesa Watershed, a 2,700-hectare (6,672 acres) natural reserve located in the northern outskirts of Metropolitan Manila. La Mesa is the site of the filtration plant and reservoir which supplies potable water to all residents of Manila. A decade ago, nearly half of this reserve was destroyed and denuded by illegal logging and slash and burn farming.

To combat rapid deforestation and the subsequent effects of soil and water degradation, the Bantay Kalikasan Foundation and Metropolitan Waterworks and sewage system (MWSS) pledged in 2007 in reviving the La Mesa watershed as their major task. The Titap 595 Inc. partnership will contribute to meeting that pledge.

Because of its revival improved the supply of clean water and air for the metro while also providing hundreds of employment and livelihood opportunities through its various watershed development activities.

“Trees help the environment by providing an array of benefits, not least more oxygen for humans and homes for animals. Partnership between Bantay Kalikasan and Titap 595 Inc. will help the reviving of La Mesa Watershed.

The Tire Importers and Traders Association of the Philippines ( TITAP 595, Inc.) recently held its Induction of Officer for 2012-2014 last February 24, 2012 at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel. It was participated by 24 tire importers and traders from all over the Philippines.

Mr. Leroy Tan, former TITAP President inducted the new set of officers led by Kristine Co, President; Mr. Nilo Luna, Vice President; Mr. Jason Peralta, Secretary General; Mr. Boner Arellano, Treasurer; Mr. Kirk Cabalza, Auditor; Mr. Hermie de la Vega, Public Relations Officer; with Mr. Edwin Cua, Mr. Manny Cortez, Mr. Richard Yap, Ms. Ivy Tan and Mr. Robert So as Board of Directors.

The ceremonial exchange of authority between Benjamin Go, former President and Kristine Co, Current President symbolized the new beginning for the organization. The ceremony was highlighted by the turn-over of the TITAP seal to the new leader.

In her speech after the induction ceremony, Co, President of TITAP 595, Inc. 2012-2014 said that the organization is faced by challenges and opportunities for growth and development. It is high time for the association to become socially aware of its responsibilities and time to become active in making programs and projects that will bring unity among dealers, benefits to its stakeholders and prestige to the organization.

The organization is now celebrating its 17th year. With the new leadership of Co, the group is ready to accept the challenges posted on their shoulders. The group is eager to build networks in the government agencies especially with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), private institutions and business tie-ups. The group aims to be the ultimate organization that will police the industry for the benefit of its stakeholders.
